Stock Data Update during the day

    I can not get my quote ticker to update the stock data unless I manually click the fetch data button in the settings. My ticker will update on its own 1 time per day but other than that I can not get it to update on its own. Is there a way to get the data fetch to automatically fetch stock data every 5 – 15 minutes?

    Hi @jfarney11,

    Stock ticker auto update quotes one by one when visitors browse your website. So, only if you have zero visits, ticker will not be refreshed.

    Please advise, is that acceptable?

    Thank you for showing me that video I now understand what is happening as it refreshes 1 ticker symbol every time the page is visited. Now that I understand how it works it is working properly.

    Just a thought to share for consideration, I will have a low volume website for awhile and it would be good for a web site with low daily volume to have an option to set the quote update to 15 min intervals for all the ticker symbols or something like that. I noticed that there were times as I’m building this site that some quotes were 1-2 days old. Just a thought.

    Thank you for your input.

    A little problem is that quotes from Alpha Vantage API can be retrieved only one by one, and single symbol fetch can take a lot longer than couple seconds. That is why I had to implement refreshing stocks on page visit (AJAX refresh, so visitor do not see slowdown).

    I’m thinking about cron quotes fetching, but it’s still under brainstorming. Some solution for low traffic websites will be implemented in some of incoming releases.
