Still troubles with facebook publicize

Looking at your site, I see you use Yoast SEO, but deactivated their Open Graph options to use Jetpack’s Open Graph Meta tags instead. That seems to work well, Jetpack outputs the right image in the Meta Tags:

It’s worth noting that Yoast SEO would probably work as well; their Open Graph Meta Tags are usually good too. ??

Unfortunately, Facebook doesn’t seem to like that image. You can see the issue by entering the post URL in Facebook’s Debugger here:

I tried hitting the “Fetch new scrape information” button on that page to force Facebook to crawl the post again and try to grab the Image Meta tag again, and this time it worked: the debugger didn’t return any errors, and now uses the correct image when I try to share the post on Facebook:

It might just have been a glitch on Facebook’s end. Could you try to publish a new post, and let me know how it goes?

I missed that, thanks for pointing it out. Could you try to update to the most recent version of Jetpack, and then open Facebook Debugger again, and click on “Fetch new scrape information” to force Facebook to check the updated Open Graph Meta Tags?

Also, it said the following about not having tags, but my post does have tags. Any thoughts?

If it happens every time, it might be worth opening a bug here:
https://developers.facebook.com/bugs/

Facebook developers might be able to address the issue on their end, or help you understand why Facebook’s bot can’t crawl your site properly.

Could you go to SEO > Social > Facebook in your dashboard, and specify a Facebook admin and / or App ID there? That should do the trick.

I did try adding the Facebook admin and an app ID for an existing app, but still got the error, which I should clarify is just for “Like button warnings that should be fixed”, other tags seem to work.

Perhaps this is somehow related to having to scrape every time I post?

It does indeed. That plugin also offers an option to manage Open Graph Meta tags, including fb:admins and fb:app_id tags.
That’s consequently a great option for you if you want to add those 2 tags. You don’t need to use another plugin for that, you can use Yoast SEO.

Once you’ve saved your changes in SEO > Social > Facebook, make sure you’ve also checked the box at the top of that page.

Then the tags should be added to your posts. You’ll need to ask Facebook to scrape the post again, so it can find the new tags.
