• My sermon links are not validating on my FreeBSD server’s instance of PowerPress. For some reason, this instance is not letting me post the sermon if it is not validated. I am getting the same problem in a brand new fresh installation of WordPress on a Linux server with the PowerPress plugin installed. The only difference is on the Linux server, I can still post a podcast even though the verify failed. Also if I click on the media files “View” button, I get a 404 “file not found”. This happens in both Linux and FreeBSD.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

I did some testing with this media file URLL:
    https://sermons.kq6up.org/wp-content/uploads/2023/08/R_20230827-101147.mp3

And on my test site, the URL verified for me (you can see a screenshot of the verification here).

Are you getting a specific error when you try to verify a media file URL? Also, I’m not sure what the “media files view” button is. Do you mean the View File Size and Duration link under the file URL field?

No, if you go into the media library in WP, there is a link that just says view. This is broken on both my installs. I am not able to verify the files on both FreeBSD and Linux. The Linux instance was installed from scratch today which is really strange. I was thinking maybe it is because I don’t have HTTPS setup. I am just running HTTP. I was working on getting SSL going today. Made some progress but need to rest my eyes.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Ok, spent a day and 1/2 on it. Yes, it appears that the verify feature craps out without a specific error message if you only have HTTP instead of HTTPS. All these years it worked fine until just recently. The good news is that my site finally has SSL certs running that are not self signed. The developers might want to add a more specific message it fails on the fact that the server simply running HTTP on port 80. Maybe someone else will find this post and be spared a headache.

    Thanks,
    Chris
