Nearly a year after the introduction of HPOS and the announcement of the legacy API being discontinued, Sendcloud still hasn’t managed to move their plugin to API V3. Everyone else managed to do that within weeks, so it is hard to understand how this can take so long… The issue is that not supporting API V3 means, WooCommerce needs to be run in HPOS compatibility mode, which removes all speed advantages of HPOS, as two orders tables need to be maintained in the database.

    Hi @cyrix2000

Thank you for your feedback, I understand your frustration with the delay in moving our plugin to API V3. Please know that this is a priority for us, and we are working diligently on a new version of the plugin that will no longer rely on the Legacy API. Our current plan is to have a beta release available by the end of July 2024.

In the meantime, I’d like to reassure you that upon upgrading WooCommerce to version 8.8 or newer, the Legacy REST API compatibility plugin is automatically installed and enabled. This means that there should be no compatibility issues with the Sendcloud plugin when you upgrade to WooCommerce 8.8 or newer, so you can still take advantage of the latest WooCommerce features without losing the speed benefits of HPOS.

If you are interested in receiving updates about the new plugin, please contact us via support so that we can keep you in the loop: https://support.sendcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046514071-How-to-get-support-from-Sendcloud

As always, if you have any further questions or need assistance, feel free to reach out here or open a support case with our Customer Support team. We are here to help.

    Hi,

that’s unfortunately not correct as you explained it above. Yes, the legacy API plugin is available but as soon as it is active, HPOS needs to be running in compatibility mode which means Woocommerce is maintaining the legacy order tables plus the new HPOS ones, which leads to a slowdown of the web shop (Woocommerce is showing even a warning message due to that). So as long as you aren’t updating your plugin, I can’t disable the HPOS compatibility mode.

    Hello @cyrix2000,

Thank you for your answer and for highlighting the impact on HPOS performance. You are correct that using the legacy API plugin necessitates running HPOS in compatibility mode, which maintains both the legacy and new order tables, leading to potential slowdowns.

If you encounter any slowdowns on your webshop caused by our module, please contact us via support https://support.sendcloud.com/hc/en-us/articles/360046514071-How-to-get-support-from-Sendcloud, we will be more than happy to assist you.

We want to assure you that updating our plugin to the API V3 is our top priority, and our development team is fully dedicated to this task.

If this topic is of the utmost importance to you, I wonder what the situation might be with other, less urgent matters. This plugin has been the only obstacle preventing my shop from running fully on HPOS for months. I must admit, I’m a bit perplexed as to why it has taken so long. I had not anticipated that rewriting a few order calls would require a year and longer.
