    Hi Thomas,

Also, Is there a way to make sure that the payment method step (step4 or step5) is being tracked on the checkout page step before the user clicks the place order button?

I found out on the report, even the user has a successful transaction, the step for payment method is not tracked. Please check https://share.getcloudapp.com/ApurEn52. Also, I am not sure what event is trigger for this step: gtm4wp.checkoutStepEEC or gtm4wp.checkoutOptionEEC

    Thanks,

    Hi,

There was an issue in the tracking codes related to checkout step tracking.
I will release a new plugin version soon, it will fire step 3 (shipping method) correctly and also it will take into account if the ‘Force shipping to the customer billing address’ option is set.

If your checkout page allows the user to enter different shipping address but the user keeps using the billing data as the shipping data, step 2 (shipping data) will be skipped to show you in the checkout funnel report how many times users skip this step.

    Hi Thomas,

Is the new update also solve the tracking step for the payment method?. Is there a way to make sure that the payment method step is being tracked on the checkout page step before the user clicks the place order button?

    Hi,

Unfortunately there is always a chance that the data transmission towards GA is halted because form submission processed earlier. Currently I do not see a better solution for that case.

Which time would you suggest to catch to send the payment method step if the user is not changing the default selected payment method?

    Hi Thomas,

When the user did not change the default selected payment method, I think the payment method step must automatically track when the order is successfully completed. I think that will determine that the user successfully buy it using the default payment method. But I’m not sure how can be tracked after they click the order button.

    I hope this will help!

    Hi,

That is a great idea, the question is how can we transfer the fact that the default selected has been approved from the checkout page to the order received page? A cookie would be the obvious way but this has an even growing limitation especially in Safari.
