Step 5 of the Installation

  • When I get to step 5 of the installation and try to bring up wp-admin/install.php I get a download dialogue box prompting me, “You have chosen to opn install.php which is a PHP file” , and then it asks me if I want to open it or download it to disk. When I select open it, it pops it open on my desktop in an editor.

    I tried both IE and Firefox browsers, same thing. It’s not the browser.

    Any ideas here?

  • If you’re in control of the server, then you need to enable the PHP module in Apache. You also need to add index.php as a valid DirectoryIndex.

    If you’re not in control of the server, you need to contact your hosting provider to have them fix these things.
