step 2 install – malformed URL – can’t log in

  • I have successfully gotten through step one of my install of WP 2.7.1. (Mostly successful – I never got the usual email with my login details.) I have installed it at https://www.jkcohen.com/wordpress/. However, when I enter my admin name and password into the login screen that follows (wp-login.php), the data is posted to the malformed URL https://www.jkcohen.com/?step=2/wp-login.php, leading to a 501 Not Implemented error from the web server. What is wrong? How can I successfully log in?
