Status choices – enhancement suggestion

I have just added my custom statuses, viz:
Working on it
Live With it

I was able to do this via your guidance, but I had to discover I needed to set the ‘value’ parameter suitably – to 3 & 4 in my case. Perhaps some clarification in the guidance?

It would be nice to be able to only allow the user to see/select a subset of these statuses and to hide my additions as above. I guess it would need setting of a flag in the $allstatus declarations.

Showing all of them might be done depending on the user status (admin, moderator, editor) or the hidden ones only available in the backend.
