  • I have this installed, but I turned it off because I really want it to ignore a few ip addresses, mine being one of them. Is there a way to do this? The size of the Db was bloating quickly because I hit the site so many times each day, since I’m still working on it.

You could hack the code and check to see if a URL parameter is passed to not input the data in the Database. If you’re still developing then I’d leave the StatTraq Off. Or, alternately, if you’re just working on the CSS, you could just save the source code from a view source and then point the saved index.php file as index.html and alter the URL to the CSS file where you could do your tweaking on your local machine.

RPDRND: Umm…. turn it off if we don’t want to see our own IP address? That’s not so helpful. I mean, from a developer’s standpoint, you asked for a thorough shakedown. Saying “don’t use it if you don’t like it” is a little against the spirit of the whole Open Source movement, don’t you think? (grin)
Also, your plugin tracks every hit from every bot in the known universe. MSNbot, Yahoo Slurp, FeedDemon, Feedster, Bloglines, blo.gs, Blogs Now…. EVERYONE.
At first it was kinda neat, like watching a bug zapper ona summer night. But now, I have 274 distinct IP addresses (users) since midnight (it’s 11:19 am here right now) and I KNOW I ain’t that popular.
We need some way to mask IPs Maybe a link to click and say “exclude” and add the block of IPs to a blacklist in the database so we can have more accurate statistics. Here’s what I mean when you look at top ten stats by browser:
    1 msnbot 168
    2 Mozilla Firefox 100
    3 Mozilla 34
    4 Inktomi/Yahoo 29
    5 Internet Explorer 6.0 14
    6 FeedDemon 13
    7 Bloglines 12
    8 Feedster 7
    9 Other [PubSub.com RSS reader – https://www.pubsub.com/%5D 5
    10 Other [UniversalFeedParser/3.0-fc-1 +https://technorati.com] 4
I also use CQ Counter. They must have bots screened out some how, during the same time period, I have 14 hits from unique IP addresses.

I’m working on the next release which will have several options in an options interface – hopefully one of these options will help you achieve what you’re after. I actually find having all of the data there handy, but I suppose that some folks just want the basic set of data.
Thanks for testing and I hope that you find the evolution of this plugin useful and are able to use it like you’re wanting.

I have a BIG problem with StatTraq. I’ve configured the Permalink option in WordPress (with the apache rewrite module):
    /archivos/%year%/%monthnum%/%day%/%postname%/
…but now Stattraq doesn’t count the POST visits (most viewed pages). Is there a fix or hack for this?
    Thanx!
