In the Jetpack stats there’s a sub heading with referrers. So you can more or less see where your traffic is coming from. Like Google, Facebook, etc. I am using Mailchimp for my newsletters. I can see people opening them and clicking through to my website/articles, but… How do they show up (under which name/link) under my referrers?? I would like to have an idea about the numbers there.

There is one us13.campaign-archive.com that could be it? But if so, the numbers (one today) don’t nearly correspond… According to Mailchimp 120 people clicked through so far from todays newsletter. There’s nothing in my stats that supports this?

Do those visitors even register in my stats or are they omitted for some reason?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

    Hi there!

Yes, you’re correct, us13.campaign-archive.com would be the visitors coming from MailChimp.
As for the differences in numbers, it’s possible that the stats in MailChimp are measuring a different thing, it’s hard to advise without more details.

What details would you need from me to investigate further?

I sent out a survey to my newsletter readers to check if people actually click/read the links and the answers was clearly: yes. So… I can provide additional info, just let me know what you would need.

The referrers are only recorded if the site where the visitors click the link sends us referrer headers, and if the visitor doesn’t block this type of tracking. Some browsers like Opera or Brave block this by default but there are also settings and add-ons that your visitors can be using.

Our stats are not real-time so, if you’re referring to a newsletter that just went out today, the stats may still change.

If those referrals don’t show in stats later today, it means we’re not getting that referrer header we need to track it but it’s not something Jetpack has any control over, I’m afraid.

Okay, clear. But does that mean they are not registered as visitors at all? Or they just end up under another referrers heading like google? Those people do end up visiting my website, so they should count somewhere, right?

They would be recorded as new visitors on your site, but we won’t be able to show you from which referrer do they come.

“it means we’re not getting that referrer header we need to track”

As a result of this conversation, I connected MailChimp with Google Analytics. They show there as referrer: email. Will this change anything in your way of collecting stats?
Not much else I can tick in MailChimp… But I prefer Jetpack’s simpeler stats (app) over Google Analytics.

Not really, no. I had another look at your stats and I can see some referrers being actually other email providers so it’s possible that these are also coming from the MailChimp newsletters but we have no way of knowing.
