Stats in question

I am pretty new to word press blogs and have a question about the stats info.
Between yesterday and today, there are 55 spam comments shown on my blog however according to the stats no one has even viewed my blog since yesterday. How does that happen?
It seems to me they would have to at least view my blog to leave a comment.
Am I missing something?
