• I’m hosting my blog https://www.jerrypettit.com/blog at 1and1.com and they have a statistics page that I can go to which indicates that I get maybe 100 hits per day.

So what?! How do I know that this is not 99 “webcrawlers” and 1 hit from my mother?

Is there some way of figuring out what a real number of unique “hits” is as far as “real people”?

  • have a look at https://performancing.com/metrics/ or https://www.google.com/analytics if you’d like more interesting/useful statistics.

Those look to be “more of the same” stats that I already have from my host at 1and1.com.

I’m SURE that of the 100 hits/day, 90+ are likely to be worthless webcrawlers–right?

So how do I get MEANINGFUL data–how do I filter out the webcrawler hits?

that was the fastest metrics trial ever.

And no, they aren’t more of the same. That would be why I suggested them as two free services for you to try.

Ok. Sorry. I’ll give them a try.

You know what I want then, and these apparently take care of that.

    Thanks!

Believe me, I don’t give a poo about how many spiders hit my site. And I, personally, like the two I linked. ??

HandySolo, do you know if one needs some sort of plug-in for WordPress for those stats to work?
And would each post/page already there need a code installed to them?
Any info would be much appreciated.

    WordPress plugin:
    Google Analyticator-
    https://cavemonkey50.com/code/google-analyticator/

Adds the necessary JavaScript code to enable Google’s Analytics (https://www.google.com/analytics/). Comes with an option page that allows you to control options such as Administrator logging, and custom tracking code.

Not sure of the other one though.. I hope this helps maybe..

the plugin works as long as long as you have an analytics account, and last I checked theyre still by (GOOGLE’s) invitation only. Its not a stand alone solution.

Took me a while to get my invite ??

Took me a while to get my invite ??

Hehe..I waited for like 3 months after I signed up for one, finally got it though!! =D

P.S. Off topic a little, I’ve been getting some spam comment(S) slip by whoo.. =( Like, not just a couple a week, a few a day.. until I added their IP addys to the htaccess file that is..hahaha. Your htaccess “special” is still intact though lmao! Any thoughts on this? Maybe take it to email.. =P

and last I checked they’re still by (GOOGLE’s) invitation only.

    Check again. ??

yah email me, im trying to think of what I did, oh now I remember, Im checking trackbacks differently, since all I really ever see is the occasional tb spammer.

I oughta just send you my .htaccess so you can see the IPs i ban, damn bastards. I prolly wont get to much this weekend though; I got my wood floors refinished today, and Im in the middle of a major home refinishing/cleanup phase.Tommorow is home depot day/paint day/install baseboards day/etc..

Way off topic, having one room of floors refinished has lead me to want to do my livingroom all by mahself. It’s a slipperly slope, that home improvement thing.

    oh – and performancing’s metrics plugin: https://davereid.net/projects/wordpress/pmetrics/

Hahaha.. Ok. =) Home Depot Day! YAY!!.. lmao! Yeah, the home refurnishing/refinishing is a “project”..but, it will look 10x better though, once done. =) ??
