• Hi guys, hope you can help..

A year or so ago I set up a basic website for a small Hotel and all has been running fine.

However, the owner called last week to say there was no longer any content on the front page (the site had been set to display a static page called ABOUT US as the entry point.

I checked and the site renders up fine apart from where the ABOUT US text used to appear.

I can navigate to the ABOUT US page no probs via the menu, it’s still there but I can’t get anythint to show in the white space when you first arrive at the site now.

I have tried changing the static page, making a new one, reinstalling the theme and upgrading WP to the latest version but nothing.

Any ideas greatfully received? Is this common? I’ve not seen it before and have worked with WP a fair bit…

    Cheers,

    Paul

Before such strange behavior happened, did anyone else with Admin privileges add a plugin or changed anything else.

I see that’s you noted that the site’s running on 2.9.1 – who upgraded the site? Did you/they upgrade via auto-upgrade in admin dashboard? If so, have you tried re-uploading WP files/folders via FTP or cpanel instead?

    Hi, thanks for getting back.

It was originally running on 2.6x and hadn’t been updated for a year as I was no longer involved in the project. I upgraded it myself yesterday via FTP to see if it would help.

The owners have no clue hwo to add plug-ins etc.

When I first started poking around to find what was wrong I did notice thatevery .php file for the theme in use had had loads of weird code injected into the start of each page.

That was the reason I re-uploaded the theme.

Like I say, they seem to say it was there one day and not the next. The page still exists it’s just none will appear as front page..

I know what you mean ??

Site was hacked. Since probably most of the plugins you used are most probably no longer compatible with 2.9.1, is there time or possibility to start over with a complete reinstall and import clean XML file etc.? Just a thought ??
