• I created a site using static pages but now I learned that I can’t add separate a blog “page” to my menu because it is not a page. I think I figured out a workaround by using my main URL for the WordPress page site and creating a companion site at WordPress.com. (website.wordpress.com). From here, I should be able to create a blank page and link the menu to the website.wordpress.com and use that for the blog section. Is this a typical workflow? Or is there a plugin I need to find so I can create a menu in WP to link to pages and a blog “page”?

    Hello WPyogi,

Thanks for the links. I resolved my issue by changing the name of my About page to blog page and then assigning that page to my post. The only downside is that I can’t have an about page, or any other pages. I’m using Hemingway template and it only allows me to have one page and one blog post in the menu. I can create multiple pages but I can’t add them to the menu. I tried using the ‘Simple add pages or posts’ plugin but that didn’t help.

I built a site in 2010 with WordPress in verison 3.0 and didn’t encounter these issues, Adding a page should be simple. Is there a way for me to back to version 3.0 or should I just build my own template in dreamweaver to have multiple pages and upload the code to WP?

    Hello WPyogi,

I am back to full circle again on the issue of creating a WordPress site and a companion mysite/Wordpress.com blog. I have come to the conclusion that you can either use WP as a website or a blog but not for both, these features seem mutually exclusive. I know you said this was not a typical workflow so what version of WP are you using? I’m thinking that I should go back to an earlier version instead of the current one so I can have the best of both worlds. Can you recommend which version of WP I can use to A) host a website and B) host a blog at the same time?

    Thanks
