I am at my wits end with this issue. I have the Kadence theme with elementor pro. I have properly set my permalinks, the homepage is set in reading and in the theme customizer. But no matter what I do the homepage continues to be Hello World. I even deleted all the pages and posts of Hello World and it still shows as the homepage as well as set the theme to twentytwenty (to rule out the theme) and disabled all plugins but nothing works. I am not a programmer but will give it my best go if that is suggested.

If it’s of any importance I am using NameHero as my host.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • I am seeing a website…

Check CPanel or FTP – make sure there is no index.html or default.html file in the main www directory and also, make sure index.php is WordPress file.

    https://github.com/WordPress/WordPress/blob/master/index.php

If a file exists on the file system, it will show it and not load wordpress.

I don’t see Hello World on your homepage.
It shows a menu, then an image with a slogan, then a horizontal contact form, then specialty areas, then a process, then a bio about you, then a different contact form, then a map.

Try visiting your website from a different device.
Moreover, clear your cache, particularly your browser cache in this case.

I’m glad you see it @carike because I cannot. I even downloaded a new browser and it still comes up as Hello World. I have also been using the duckduckgo browser on my tablet which wipes everything, every session and Hello World. I think it’s a cool tool for testing and making sure the browser cache isn’t in the way.

@whitsey There is no html file other than a readme and the index.php is the WordPress file (compared one in directory to the one in the link).

    :'(

@cruzs It looks fine to the World. I just ran a test on GTMetrix and the screenshot shows what the world is seeing. https://gtmetrix.com/analyze.html

So it looks like it is just you. Try Chrome with cache disabled: https://nicholasbering.ca/tools/2016/10/09/devtools-disable-caching/

    Try saving Permalinks again.

Also, try viewing the page using it’s page id: /?page_id=[actual_page_id]

    Are you logged in?
It is possible that your site displays different content for logged in users vs. anonymous users.
It isn’t something that happens by default, but since two of us can see (and describe) the contents of your homepage and you’re sure that your cache has been cleared (also clear cookies, by the way), that sort of thing becomes more likely.
It seems more likely than that your site is displaying different content based on geolocation.

I found the problem. I set my CDN (Cloudflare) into development mode. What I didn’t know is that it expired in 3 hours and I never refreshed the page to see that it started caching again.

Thank you both for taking the time to help this problem. I very much appreciate the both of you.

    Thank you and stay safe.
