Static Front Page Plugin not working???

  • 1. I did one click installed using WP Plugin manager.
    2. Created a page with slug home. That page is not showing up as home page.

    Not showing up? Anything I should be doing? Uhm!!! No idea!!!. Help would be appreciated.

  • Don’t you need to create a template page home.php and not a slug name home for the plugin to work correctly?

    Actually I copied the index.php and renamed it home.php There is isnt anything else that I can find about it. Anyone have any suggestions?

    As I understand it this is muddling two completely different techniques. Home.php would be a front page by default. The plugin permits a page to generated in the page manager in admin and for that to be the new front page.

    Ok I understand now. Home page then really is a custom index.php modified per your need. But still – the static front page plugin in is not working- site below:

    couldnt find any other resources. I might have to go with the other option suggessted in wordpress doc. Thanks- let me know if someone had simillar problems.

    Ok – if you install through plugin manager nothing (NOTHING) no plugin seem to work fine. I have no idea what that does. but I manually copied the file to plugins folder and it works.

    could you describe the problem more precisely?

    normally, you don’t need to do _anything_ besides:

    1. activating the plugin
    2. creating a page (NOT a post) with a slug of “home” (typically: create a page titled home and rename it immediately after)

    Obvious, but might be overseen?
    In the plugins section of the site admin, the plugin StaticFrontPage must be activated, i.e. it should be listed with Deactivate under the column heading Action.
