Static Front Page failing after 6 blogs

I had “Static Front Page” set up in my options, and in the beginning all was well. However, after a few blog posts I noticed that my home page became the blog post that was “6 posts old” (strange but true)

I noticed that this co-incided with the setting for the number of images that the Dynamic Content Gallery image slider was set to use (=5), and sure enough, reset the number of images to 10, and my home page re-appears. Needless to say though that with ever more posts going to be added, changing this setting every time is not sustainable.

Does anyone have any experience with “Static Front Pages” and this slider plug-in, that can help nail down what I want the home page to actually be whilst still limiting the slider to only 5 images in it’s rotation?
