• I have the front page of my blog displaying a static page (via the options) The problem is that I want to have another page display the blog posts. Since index.php is the default, I tried creating a new template, however the loop still displays static content.

My question is… how do I have a static home page, and then have another page display dynamic content or rather the blog posts as it normally would if I had ‘front page displays – Your latest posts’.

Basically, I’m wondering how to get the ‘Display latest post’ functionality on pages other than the static homepage.

  • You create two (2) Pages.
In the Options > Reading you assign one of them as frontpage and the other one as your posts page. Done.

Ahhh I see… I’m still running into a conflict though… even though I assign a special template to say the ‘Blog’ page… and then assign posts page as the blog page, it only seems like it wants to use the index.php file and not the new template file I made.

Since I have no idea what is in your “special template” – which could contain wrong code… I don’t know what to say.

Before you adventure into special PAGE templates (becuase nothing else would work in this case) – just try it with your default Page template. Does it work?

Is 2.5 supporting this feature? I see there is Settings > Reading but I do not see anything anywhere controlling the frontpage.
