Stat failure after change in permissions

    I was trying to allow WP to use the upload image feature so I changed the permissions of the wp-content to 666 from 644. After this change the site crashed and I received these error messages for stat failure:

    Warning: stat failed for /httpdocs/wp-content/themes/default/index.php (errno=13 – Permission denied) in /httpdocs/wp-includes/functions.php on line 1543

    How do I fix this? Thanks

    Directories need execution rights if you want to make them accessible. So 755 or 777 would have been appropriate.
