• Hi all!

I’m renovating my sports club’s website which is currently written in code. We are a volunteer organisation so having used wordpress before I want to install it as the CMS as I found it really user friendly. However when I’ve used it previously, the website has been created by web designers…

I need to know if I can use the existing domain name, install wordpress and create the site from there? It will be a basic site but will include a photo gallery and booking calendar for events.

    All advice welcomed!

    Many thanks,

    Richard

Yes – that should be possible. Is the old site still running on the root domain?

    Thanks esmi…

I believe the site is still running and functioning as per the original design so yes, it would be the original root domain! Do you think an amateur (me!) would be able to install wordpress, the theme and functions we require? I do have some technical help with a club member who is a website administrator and is familiar with this sort of thing.

I’m at the beginning of the beginning. I have downloaded WordPress and need direction for how to open and build blog from there. Thanks for taking time for the rookie :o)

Absolutely. A lot of people using WordPress are amateurs. ??

Assuming you want to keep the old site running until the new one is ready to launch, I’d suggest you start by installing WordPress in a sub-folder.

    Apologies. Thanks for the protocol.
