Starting Excerpts with First Search Result "Hit" in Relevanssi Search Results

    First off, thank you so much for creating such an excellent WordPress search plugin!

    For the search results “page/post excerpt” in each relevanssi search result, do you know of any way to make the excerpt start with the first search result “hit” word?

    For instance, is there any way to have the first word in the excerpt be “Rules” (Search Hit Word) if the user was searching for “Rules” and the results showed different “page/post excerpts” with results for rules?

    No. Relevanssi will create the excerpt so that it shows the best part – best meaning the most appearances of search terms.

    You can use ‘relevanssi_excerpt’ filter to modify the excerpts before the search terms are highlighted, so you can create a function that will create the excerpts you want. That’s not terribly complicated.
