• Hello,

I am having an issue with the starter marker. I have been researching this through this forum and have tried different fixes.

Auto-locate user works fine but it comes up with “no results found” when sharing the location or not.

I have the correct browser and server key.

Here is where it is installed: icellandrepair.com/locations/

I have flushed the cache, tried different browser keys, switched themes, disabled all plugins, but still the starter marker position not working. It won’t auto-complete when I try and put a location in there.

I can even do without it. I saw a post where the plugin author showed how to delete the starter marker but that was over a year ago and the code has changed. I am open to that option if that is what I have to do.

Your help is greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You can’t set the start location on the settings page? Can you check for any JS errors in your browser?

Can you also make sure to set a referrer for the browser API key? You can do this in the Google Console. Click on the “Credentials” tab in the right corner -> Browser Key -> Set the referrer.

If you have the keys, but it still fails, then this could be problem. Somehow this isn’t required for everyone.

You can set the referrer to https://domain.com/* to cover all pages on your site, or make it more specific like https://domain.com/your-store-locator-page and https://domain.com/wp-admin/edit.php?post_type=wpsl_stores&page=wpsl_settings to only cover the settings and store locator page.

Yes thank you I have done these items before.

I have added the referrer in many different ways: Snapshot

I am getting now JS errors in console: Snapshot

I mean check for JS errors on the WPSL settings page. That’s where you have to set the start locations.

Ah smart! I tried that though with no issues: Snapshot

It doesn’t solve the underlying problem, but you can set the start location through the shortcode.

    [wpsl start_location="times square,new york"]

Does the start location field on the settings page have grey half circles in it? Can you make sure to clear the browser cache.

If you view the source of the settings page ( ctrl + u in Firefox ), and look for maps.google.com does it include the key param? You are using the latest version?

That shortcode doesn’t help it. I tried that as well.

I did originally have that in there. My cache is cleared, the key parameter is in the settings source code and I am using the latest version.

I have uninstalled and deleted this plugin and reinstalled and put back all the store information.

    This is a conundrum!

    Does this happen?

Does the start location field on the settings page have grey half circles in it?

If it’s grey, then an error has to show up in the console. Which browser did you check the console in? Can you maybe try to check it Chrome?

Can you send me an email at tijmen at wpstorelocator.co?
