• Resolved revlow

    (@revlow)

    Hi,

    For some reason in the past few days, the plugin has started adding extra padding above the social icons in the header. I haven’t changed anything on the menu, and it occurs no matter how many social icons I use… even one will do it.

    I haven’t done any updates lately to the theme or plugins. I did go through the plugins one by one to see if there was a conflict. Doesn’t seem to be. Deactivating them didn’t change the header height. The only one that put the header back to the correct height was when I deactivated Simple Social Icons.

    I also tested this in a dev subdomain — it’s behaving the same way. It’s added approx 58 px in height to the header. I even tried making the icons smaller — no change. It had definitely not acted this way before.

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Here is our site https://namelink.com

    Thanks!

    Also, I checked the css file for this plugin and nothing has changed since it was first installed in May. I compared it to the backup file.

    Hi, revlow!

    There’s some padding being applied to that widget area in your “Spacious” theme’s stylesheet on line 537:

    #header-right-section .widget {
      text-align: right;
      padding-top: 10px;
    }

    There’s no other padding being applied above the icons that I could see, though. Perhaps you could edit the theme to remove it if you wish?

    Hi Nick,

    Thanks! I tried that and it didn’t change anything. But the problem appears to be the monitor I’m using. My laptop crashed a few days ago and I’m on an old computer with a 1280 x 1024 resolution. I looked at it this morning on other computers, however, and it’s fine. It also corrects itself when I lower the browser magnification on this computer to 90%.

    Scary to think this would be doing it. Yes, it’s the old aspect ratio, but I’m sure some people still use it. Otherwise the site’s been nicely responsive.

    Thanks so much Nick. Nice to know there’s someone like you to help. ??

    Thanks for the update, revlow, and well done for tracking the issue down to your screen resolution.

    If I can help with anything else related to the plugin, feel free to open a new thread any time. ??

    Thanks again Nick. I’ll mark this as resolved unless you say otherwise. (Is it good to mark something as resolved if the answer didn’t have anything to do with the original Q?)

    Sure – feel free to mark this resolved if it requires no further action. Thanks for checking in!
