For some reason the stars are not being shown as stars, they are either showing as S’s or $’s it hard to tell and when trying to submit a review, the submissions just sits hanging and never submits any new reviews. I found nothing in the help docs to help me troubleshoot this. Can someone please help?

Please post the URL of the page that contains the review form.

The page is the homepage https://keystonetacsupply.com. You can see the display reviews and add reviews form is on the bottom of the page. If you need more information please let me know. Please keep in mind that the theme used is very old and no longer supported. While I am in the process of building a new site for my client, right now, this is all I have to work with..

When I started this yesterday, it was using the “Comments” to display the reviews, now they are not showing at all, but I still cant get the submission to work. Thanks, I would appreciate any help you can provide.

    1. The stars display correctly for me on Chrome, Firefox, and Safari.
    2. It looks like there may be a plugin conflict happening. Please go to the Site Reviews > Help page and perform the Basic Troubleshooting steps to track down the cause.

This was resolved, I have to convert the comments to the reviews, and the stars seemed to be from the fact that it was trying to use the comments as reviews. Once I put them as reviews they displayed correctly.

As fort he reviews not being able to get submitted, this was a problem with recaptcha. It doesn’t specify which version of recaptcha to use, I believe I had go use recaptcha 2. I had originally tried to use v3 which wouldn’t work. If you could update the plugin to specify which version of recaptcha is required that would help.

    Thanks

The setting does specifically say “Invisible reCAPTCHA”. However, I can understand how that could still be confusing, so I have clarified the description in v5.0 to specifically mention the correct version that the Invisible reCAPTCHA badge falls under:

Excellent thank you, and while yes I did notice it says “Invisible reCAPTCHA”, but as you noted this can be some what confusing especially for those that are not very familiar with reCAPTCHA. When I had it configured, it would tell me that reCAPTCHA was not configured properly. So I don’t know if something has changed with treCAPCHA or not.

Also my understanding was that “Invisible reCAPTCHA” would not even show the reCAPTCHA badge, but it does, while you don’t need to click in it, the badge still shows. This is fine, and doesn’t bother me one bit, especially now that everything is working perfectly now, and the spam has stopped.

I appreciate your attention to this issue, and thank you for a great plugin!

    Cheers.

It’s called “invisible” because it validates the form request in the background, unlike the “I’m not a robot” tickbox where you have to first tick the checkbox to validate the form request.

This should help explain the difference between the reCAPTCHA types: https://developers.google.com/recaptcha/docs/versions
