Star Rating – Required Field – No warning

I think that star rating needs to be on your user profile page and not the registration page?

It is to show reviews other users have given so isn’t applicable to the registration page….

Well I use it on the registration form as it’s incredibly helpful for our situation. We don’t just let people join our site, we have them apply and we process them through a manual review of their application.

The ‘intended use’ of a thing should not be the only use.

These are tools to help us create platforms and the star rating on the registration works perfectly as a question to my new users in asking them to rate their knowledge in different areas.

It functions perfectly outside of the missing error and I have been using it this way for almost 2 years now.

I’m just reporting a bug here. You can add it to the registration form multiple times, and you can click required, but it shows no error when left blank, the form just reloads.

I have worked around this by making 1 star default.

Please don’t break this function just because it’s supposed to be on the profile only. I also have the star rating result displayed on the profile to show the final answers.

I just tested adding the Rating field to the Register form and it works – the rating is still appeared selected to 5 when I viewed the Profile form after the registration.

Could you please confirm that you’re using the latest version 2.1.11?

Couple things.

First, the issue isn’t that the star rating doesn’t work. It’s that it shows no warning when left blank when a 0 rating was given (no stars) and the field is set to “required”. The form just reloads with no text explaining to the user they need to add a rating to continue. The registration never happens as the form just reloads and doesn’t complete the registration and the user is confused as to why.

I have no issue with the star rating when a star rating is clicked (1-10). So there’s no issue with the registration or the final profile form if there is a star rating entered. It’s only when registering a new user and a star rating is left blank, meaning ZERO stars, while set to required. Try making a required star rating field, select required, leave it empty and register.

Second, I am using the 10 star field option when this bug happens.

What I did was set the default to 1 star for the rating so the form never has a blank star rating. My form has the user rate themselves in different areas so I have the star rating field copied a bunch of times for different things.

So in my case it’s the 10 star rating, left blank, but set to required, with 12 different star ratings setup.
