I currently found out, that the WordPress SEO plugin of Yoast is causing this.

I have left this plugin to its standard settings, changed nothing in it.
But as soon as I de-activate it, I can access the yearly and monthly archive of HUEMAN successfully.

    Anyone an idea please?
    Thanks.

You should probably update your SEO Yoast plugin settings.
Goto: “Titles & Metas” – “Other”
On this page goto section “Date Archives” and uncheck “Disable the date-based archives”. That did the trick for me..

    @csigncsign
I have an idea – a complete nonsense.
Yoast’s SEO is 1 of the best & oldest plugins for SEO (OK, not only one, just my favorite), using it on all my WP websites (with or without Hueman theme) – no problems. And Hueman is clean & well written.
As @bvlangen wrote- big problem can arouse if you don’t know how to use it proper – either don’t use it, or use it with preset features (you changed it for sure in Hueman, otherwise it will be working proper).
+ @bvlangen – proposed you possible solution i.e. – you already “messed” wit SEO by Yoast settings – and it’s very powerful, if you don’t know how to tune it. Yes, I’m a fun of SEO/Yoast (he had bugs, also, but after 12 millions of downloads and constant support) I’m getting sick when someone writes “I currently found out…”- better read carefully a large documentation, and learn something about SEO, “an general”.
Don’t get me wrong – just be serious when trying to write something in Hueman theme forum.
First – standard WP archive widget – https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/archives-widget/
It’s core WP thing – some basic PhP + CSS makeup – every normal theme (and Hueman is more than that) works with it without problems.
So – if your Yoast SEO isn’t configured wrong (and most probably it’s your issue, as @bvlangen wrote) – examine your other plugins one by one (deactivate), and everything should work at some point.

    Hi there guys,

I had the same problem…archive was not working.

So I unchecked “Disable the date-based archives” in WPSeo by Yoast and now the archives are working again.

But I am not sure if this could be the final solution, because as far as I understand I have now the problem that dublicate content will be shown for Google.

What do you think? Is there any other solution or should I contact Yoast for this bug? Or is this a matter for Alex?

What do you think about the problem with dublicate content?

Thank you for your great support.

    Regards,
    Karsten

    Hi all,
really to occupied to give support, but you provoked me with SEO & Yoast, so I cannot resist…
    @karsten,
no, you will not have duplicate content problem, if you check “noindex, follow” – that tells Google and other bots “OK, crawl, but DO NOT include it in index”… and there are no bugs in Yoasts plugin ??

OK, as I started, I’ll do it till the end:
-one of the best tutorials I found on configuring SEO by Yaoast is https://moz.com/blog/setup-wordpress-for-seo-success

And my configuration (for “Titles & Metas”) is:
General – only “Noindex subpages of archives” checked
    Post types
    -Posts – all unchecked
    -Pages – only “Authorship” checked

    Taxonomies
    -Categories – all unchecked
-Tags – Meta robots->noindex, follow checked
(note: there are some discussion in SEO circles should this be done, in my opinion – indexing tags in WP can really cause duplicate content)
-Format – Meta robots->noindex, follow checked
    Other
    -Author Archives
    -Meta robots
    -noindex, follow checked
    -Disable the author archives checked
    – Date Archives
    -noindex, follow checked

That’s it – similar to configuration from tutorial I mentioned above.
So, to repeat: Yoast’s plugin does not cause any conflicts with Hueman (and other themes I used), but bad configuration of it DOES, for sure (no, I don’t have commission from Yoast, but his plugin saved me tons of time, as I learned how to configure & use it ??

    Bonus:
-use ingenious ScreamingFrog piece of software
https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/ to scan your websites for duplicate content & similar issues – it behaves like Google bots (even better)

Hope this finally solves all “mysteries” regarding Hueman and Yoast SEO plugin ??
    Cheers,
    Mike

PS – Can somebody mark finally this thread [resolved], pls?

    Hi Mike,

thank you very much for your valuable explantions and support.

I learned a lot from that.

    Regards,
    Karsten

    You’re welcome Karsten,

suppose thread will never be closed, but at least somebody had some benefit from my 10 min time writing the post ??

Anyway – this is Hueman support forum – and this went far away, to SEO + Yoast’s plugin

    Cheers,
    Mike
