    I am frequently without internet service. Can I run wordpress to design my web page without having access to an active internet server? If so, how would I configure the system?

    My host will provide whatever is necessary to use wordpress when I have internet access so that is not a problem.

    I do not intend to use wordpress as a blog, but as a web page. I assume there is a way to configure it so that I have compelete control of the layout and operation.

    I am looking for wysiwig control without HTML, CSS or php coding. I need to imbed many pictures and videos.

    Is WordPress the tool I want to use or is there a better fit for my requirements?

    There are a lot of questions there, I will attempt to answer the first one:

    Short answer is yes, you can use WordPress on your local environment without having access to the internet. I do this myself quite a bit.

    It’s not necessarily a simple task. You will need some sort of web server running on your local machine. If you’re on Windows you’ll probably want to install WAMP, if you’re on a Mac you’ll want MAMP – those stand for [Windows|Mac] Apache, MySQL, PHP, so that’s where you’ll want to start.

    Thanks for the replies. I use 4 machines to write on. Two are linux and one android. I can put the whole works on a chip (perhaps) and move it around. Guess it won’t work on the android.

    Thanks folks. that gives me enough information to make it worth my while to take a deeper look at the application.
