Hi, we have Mailchimp active on both our live and our staging sites. The audience is connected on both sites as we can see in the plugin settings but our account is only connected on the staging site, not the live one. How can we change this without losing any data in between? Thank you!

@samovaari Apologies for the delay on engaging with you on this matter.

It’s important to note that whenever the plugin is removed (deactivated/deleted) from a store all associated e-commerce data will also be removed. This is to prevent duplicate data.

While there isn’t away to maintain any data from the plugin after an uninstallation. When making the switch from staging to live, you could consolidate and merge your e-commerce data from WooCommerce (if possible with the method used for staging) Prior to reconnecting the live store to Mailchimp.

We always advise making backups and prior to any major changing to your store or Audience in Mailchimp.

Hi @builtbyjordan, thank you for your reply. When the plugin is deactivated, what data do you exactly lose? Wouldn’t that data be restored if you synchronized/reconnected to your store?

At the moment on our live site we have our account disconnected but the audience connected (on our WordPress installation/Mailchimp plugin) but we can see on the Mailchimp website (Integrations page) that there is 1 connected app, Woocommerce. So even though our account doesn’t seem to be connected in WordPress (only the audience is), the order data is flowing in to Mailchimp. On the Mailchimp plugin dashboard in WordPress we’re not even seeing a button to reconnect our account, only to synchronize the audience. Is this normal behaviour and if everything seems to be working, should we just leave it as it is?

Hi samovaari, thank you for reaching out with your question. When the plugin is uninstalled, the e-commerce data in Mailchimp is lost. However, it will be resynchronized upon re-installation. For ensuring accurate data syncing on your production site, it is advisable to uninstall the plugin completely before reinstalling it.

After that is facilitated, we’ll be happy to confirm that your data is syncing correctly, please provide your store URL and enable remote support. We can then check the logs to check that the syncing process is functioning as intended on your site.

Should you have any further questions or need additional assistance, feel free to ask. We’re here to help!
