• I need – please, please – recommendations from community about how to organize staging site/environment for Multisite system with one-click synchronising. My current hosting does not offer such a service and I have no intention to change it. Maybe some plugin or cloud platform… anything besides simple archiving site back and forward every time I need to change something (as by Duplicator Pro e.g.). Thanks on advance.

  • I’d take a real deep breath and see if I really, really needed a staging site…

It’s sometimes an added complexity to achieve a slight gain. Multisite adds to that complexity.

But, if you find your planned process or desires means you’ll need this then go for it!

If the issue is you’ll mostly be creating posts on the ‘staging’ site then it’s just a matter of finding a way to automatically synchronize the posts to the production site. You might take advantage of your multisite itself to use part of it as a staging site or else another installation or local box should suffice. Post syndication and synchronization can be done via XML-RPC, RSS, or a plugin such as Syndicate Out.

If it’s full sites then I’d look at a multisite capable migration plugin.

I’m not a big fan of staging sites except where a very capable admin is available as they seem to be a bigger headache than needed… Some of that is my philosophy of getting something useful up within the first 20 mins of a website’s life followed by continuous, incremental improvements.

Also, the best staging sites are ‘paper’.

I’ve been doing a bit of research on this over the past few weeks. There seem to be a few that work.

    Plugins:
wpstaging pro seems to work. https://wp-staging.com/
    wp vivid freelancer plan https://wpvivid.com/pricing/

    Offsite staging:
    Blog vault

I’ve tested the wpstaging pro and thewpvivid and they seem good.
The only problem with wordpress and staging is if you have a woocommerce website… in which case I suggest the wpmerge.io plugin
