I took a copy of this client site to staging at Siteground back in November 2020 and it’s still there. We’d been using your plugin for a few months prior.

We’ve today noticed in our GMB account that some blog posts have automatically reposted to GMB without our intervention.

All is fine up to/inc Feb 2021 after starting posting to GMB in Dec 2019 (manually initially).

    On 6 June 2021 it posted 4 x 05/12/2020 posts and 2 x 01/12/2020 posts ?

Then on 08/10/2021 it posted the 05/12/2020 post and the 01/12/2020 posts again and 4 posts from 2015!

Further investigating shows that the ‘Learn More’ blue button at https://business.google.com/posts/l/08567869721383018085 on the unexpected reposts show they all emanated from the staging site.

Why might this be happening and have you seen this behaviour before? Why didn’t it also happen on the live site? I note that this plugin is now in ‘maintenance mode
    – is this the cause of the unexpected and quite embarrassing reposting?

Appreciate you looking into this and advising us accordingly. I’ve disabled the plugin on staging for the time being.

I’ve uploaded screengrabs of the GMB posts screen for this site and labelled the ones that have come from staging without our requesting it.

    Hi @dozza,

There could be so many reasons why this could occur but it’s impossible for me to provide a specific reason why this happened. But the high level reason is because either a post was updated or published on the staging site and the settings were set in a way that published these posts to Google My Business. Or the manual share buttons were clicked by someone.

Keep in mind the plugin is a auto publishing plugin, so under a standard setup when posts are published they will be shared to Google My Business – there are ways to setup the plugin though so this doesn’t occur, but most people have it auto publish to Google My Business. Posts can sometimes be published also from import routines or 3rd party plugins as well. So I can only recommend looking at the dates of the original posts and see if you can recall who was on the site at that time and what they might have done.

But if you don’t want any chance of the plugin sends posts to Google My Business, you should just deactivate the plugin on the staging site. Or change the settings so that no profiles are activated to share by default.

This plugin is in maintenance mode, which just means that I am going to maintain the functions of the plugin and make sure everything works ok, but the development of any new features is reserved for the pro version: https://northernbeacheswebsites.com.au/autosocial/ which is far superior plugin. The reason for this is because I am a freelancer so I don’t have time to invest in new features for all the free plugins I have on www.remarpro.com.

    Thanks ??
