SSL related

    I am asking this question so that I know the answer before I install your plugin. Let me shortly tell the whole story. Right now there is a “Facebook Comments Plugin Version 2.3.6 | By talspotim” – that I can not even find (plugin page) to ask a question.

    1. I activated the SSL certificate on my website (host helped) – https://kar.ge on April 20, 2019. Right there 1) all my Facebook comments on all pages disappeared and 2) I stopped seeing which keywords brought how many visitors in Google analytics. Both are important.

    2. Yesterday – May 14 I asked the host to remove the SSL certificate. Now I see all the old FB comments on all the pages are back, but all the links that are shared on the Facebook and all the links that are indexed by google go to warning pages (“Your connection is not private Warning”).

    I think to ask my host to get back SSL certificate. But before I do that I need to know for sure (So, my question to you is):

    If I remove the old plugin and install your plugin on the SSL activated version of my site – kar.ge, will all the facebook comments (made on http version) be there?

    Hi,

    Facebook comments stores on Facebook and Facebook keep all comments regarding URL. Mean every URL will have its own comments stored on Facebook.

    When you install ssl, your URL changed from http to https. Means a new URL. That’s why your previous comments could not display and if you again chang to http, you new comments will not display. Changing plugin should not effect on comments.

    But as this is now a common issue, we are working on a solution for getting both http and https comments. We will update the plugin after that.
