SSL on a multisite

  • Hi all,

    I have WP set to multisite where I manage my main domain (an eshop) and its blog, the multisite goes like this :

      example.com
      blog.example.com

    I have a SSL certificate (a paid one) for my main domain, but it doesn’t cover all contents on my site. Only checkout pages. And it drive me a bit crazy as I don’t find a proper answer on how to set up SSL on all my main domain, on every pages and not only the checkout pages.

    I’ve read online that I can use a plugin called “really simple ssl” to force my main domain to be in https. Does somebody had the same issue than me and can guide me, I am really scared to do a mistake and crash my eshop (xmas is coming and I don’t want to lose potential clients).

    that one is more for general ssl set-up. certain cdns like cloudflare have a different set of instructions in terms of setting up their flexible ssl.

    Thanks for your reply.
    I have already read this tutorial, but it only works if you are using wordpress on a single site mode, not in multisite mode. For example, when you are in multisite, there is no way to add a “S” at the end of HTTP in the URL.

    www.remarpro.com should provide a clear & easy way to implement SSL on multisite without having to download plugins or write code lines. I think they can do that and hope they will.

    if you are referring to the options under the general settings in single site mode
    that one that you can change your wordpress address url and site url…

    in order for you to change it network/multisite mode you have login in your phpmyadmin and update it in your database look for wp_options and update the option names siteurl and home
    update of home and siteurl on wpmu

    Adding the ‘s’ to ‘siteurl’ and ‘home’? That is all? Shouldn’t you have to search and replace all ‘http’ to ‘https’ in the php files? I’m a little hesitant to take the jump without more information.
