Hi! I have your plugin installed on my website for a long time, and everything works fine! And now I installed the plugin on my second website.

When I installed it on a first website, I noticed “ssl” folder in my website’s folder in web-hosting (on the same level, as “public_html” folder). Inside it has empty “certs” and “keys” folders. But for the second website these folders were not added.

So my question is: can I delete this “ssl” folder from first website? Or do I need to add it for a second website too?

Thanks in advance for an answer!

And also “.well-known” folder with an empty “acme-challenge” folder in my website’s root directory (I guess, it’s related to your plugin as well).

Should it be deleted, or added to a second website?

    Hi @giorgos93,

Really Simple SSL adds these folders when you start generating a certificate using the Really Simple SSL Let’s Encrypt wizard. If the ssl folder is empty the plugin didn’t generate a certificate, possibly because of not finishing the wizard. In this case you can safely delete the folders. The .well-known directory is required by Let’s Encrypt to generate a certificate. You can check what certificate your site uses at https://www.ssllabs.com/ssltest. If your site uses a Let’s Encrypt certificate I’d recommend to leave the folder in place.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Thank you!

Yes, I do use Let’s Encrypt Wildcard certificate from my web-hosting for both websites.

But for some reason, the “.well-known” directory wasn’t added for a second website. Do I need to add it by myself?

    Hi @giorgos93,

I would recommend to not make any changes to the .well-known folder or create one yourself. If you use a file manager it could be your second site does not show hidden folders. As it’s working fine currently I’d recommend to leave it as is.
