SSL error: https copied as http

When I duplicate a site with ssl, for example: https://mastersite.domain.com to copy.domain.com the siteurl and home options are set to https://copy.domain.com.
I need to search-replace to get https on the new site.
Is there a way for the plugin to copy https instead of http all over the database?
