SSL cert required for update?

  • I want to update my version of WordPress but every time I try I get the following error:

    Download failed.: SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed

    I don’t have an SSL cert and I don’t think I need one, since our website doesn’t sell anything. How can I resolve this problem to update my version?
