SSL and generating a csr

Hi, Im trying to get a rather neglected site back up and running. First getting a new password and now SSL so that i can go ahead and update. I have limited knowledge, site was created by someone who is no longer contactable. I have purchased an SSL with 123-Reg. Need to generate a CSR but Fasthosts (my host) tell me there is no option to generate CSR on a shared platform. Can any one help?
