Hi, this plugin is causing our pages to hang trying to connect to something called static1.twitcount.com. What is that and what can be done about it? It is taking 30 seconds to 1 minute for pages to finish loading. When I deactivate SSB the page loads quickly as it should. Thanks for any assistance.

    Hey @spaciousmind

Back in November 2015, Twitter stopped the share count services, We are using TwitCount in our plugin to get Twitter-related counts.
This only runs when you have enabled the Twitter share option

Let us know if you need any assistance.

We are using the twitter share option and don’t wish to disable it. We would disable connecting to twitcount though if we could because it makes our pages hang and that’s not ideal. Is this possible?

    Hey @spaciousmind

Yes, Kindly just deactivate the Twitter Counts and it will stop the twitcount scripts.

Hey @spaciousmind, find another plugin because @wparslan clearly doesn’t want to fix it.

I also don’t understand what’s the reason to load “twitcount.js” on the whole site when you have “Display Total Shares” disabled…

Once again, poorly optimized free plugins, making absurd loads of unnecessary scripts.

    Best.

@cohemelaqk Yeah I might have to if that can’t be disabled. I like the plugin otherwise, but it’s hanging our pages and even preventing some elements from loading in until that twitcount thing gets loaded, which makes for poor user experience. We want to be able for people to easily share our pages and posts via tweet but don’t really care about the share count that much.

@spaciousmind In case it’s useful, I’ve edited the plugin and commented out the lines where it loads the script and the error has disappeared.

It is not a fancy solution but for the moment it has been solved… in the next weeks I will try to find a better plugin.

How does one deactivate the Twitter Counts? I don’t see this setting in the plugin settings. Thank you.
