Hi, i’m running a website with wordpress and woocommerce and when placing an item in the cart and then checking out, where you would input your credit card information for square, it’s not loading the option for inputting the zip code. When loading the page you can see the option to enter the zip code to purchase with square, but once the page loads the ZIP code option disappears. I’ve tried disabling and re-enabling square to no avail. Any help with with this would be greatly appreciated, thank you for your time in advance.

You can see what I’m talking about by adding an item to the cart at my site and then clicking on check out and you will notice on the right middle square’s pitcure for entering the credit card details. Link is above and below, thank you.

    Hi @bopmsg4u,

The postal code field within the Square credit card form is dynamically loaded based on the billing country. If it doesn’t show up as a specified field in the Square credit card form it should still be sent in the request for fraud purposes.

Are you not getting postal code information for your transactions?

Hi Thomas, normally the option will come up under the credit card information on squares credit card input forms, but after customers have called us and notified us that the website isn’t allowing them to place orders online, I went and noticed that after I input my billing information and so forth, square kicks it back asking to input the zip code information, as square’s input for the zip code is no longer available.

I’ve tried resetting everything to no avail.

    Hi @bopmsg4u,

I just tested this on my own local installation; with a US-based address there wasn’t a Postal Code input in the credit card form itself. However, the checkout fields have a postal code input which is used by the Square integration.

Your Checkout Page’s postal code is marked Optional, that’s probably not a good idea as credit card transactions use postal codes for fraud checks.

I’d try making that required again and re-test.

Yeah that wasn’t the problem, I’ve reset all that and went back and required all the fields to be filled out for all orders, my problem is with where the square credit card details go, the credit card billing zip code option is there for a second while the page is loading and then disappears once the page is loaded, not allowing for orders to be completed with out being able to enter the zip code

    Hi @bopmsg4u,

I understand the difference between the forms when postal code is added or not; this is loaded dynamically based on the address.

In this case the postal code is not collected directly by the Square credit card form but rather should be collected by your checkout page. This prevents your users from needing to enter it twice.

I’ve tested this with the postal code field missing on the Square credit card form and my transaction went through without a problem given I entered the postal code on the Checkout page.

Hi Thomas, First I appreciate your time with trying to resolve this matter with me. But, in actuality, that square payment option on that form was indeed needed for our customers to be able to complete an order. I have fixed the problem. What i did was went ahead and deactivated the woocommerce square plugin and then deleted it, and then went back in and added the plug in again (I noticed it was updated, so maybe the update it was caused it not to work on my end???)

So, after uninstalling and deleting the woocommerce square plug in, and reinstalling it and re activating it, it’s working now. I’ve did a few purchase tests and it’s working again as it’s allowing me to enter the zip code along with the credit card credentials.

So, if anyone is else is having the same problem, you can refer them to this or let them know what to do to fix the problem. Once again thank you for your time, have a good weekend!

    Hey @bopmsg4u,

I would delete the plugin and reinstall as we have rolled back the stable version of the plugin to 1.0.38. I mentioned before that I wasn’t able to reproduce this issue but we have a couple of reports so we’ll investigate further. You have an open ticket with us so we’re already in contact through our support channel. I’ll request more information there.

This is happening to me right now, and deleting the extension and reinstalling it DID NOT resolve the issue. Apparently we’ve been unable to charge cards for days, only repeat customers can order for some reason. The POSTAL CODE field in the checkout area appears upon checkout page refresh and then disappears a second later. Square NEEDS that field in order to process new CC info!!!! We have gotten an order in 3 days because of this! What fix do you have for me?!!?

Having the exact same issue at the moment. Delete and reinstall of woocommerce square did not resolve the issue. Did anyone find a different fix?
