Provided that these instructions were followed, and Square Gift Card Payments are enabled, as exemplified here, this sounds like an email deliverability issue.

I went ahead with testing, on a test installation of mine, and all emails were sent out, and received, as expected. In a timely manner.

I’d recommend going ahead with installing the WP Mail Logging Plugin?for digging further into the reason behind it.

Furthermore, consider setting up a dedicated SMTP provider at your site. Feel free to check out the related document, linked here, on how to do so.

Thank you for your help. I have installed the WP Mail logging plugin but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be logging all the mails when I place the order (as admin I get the New Order mail but this isn’t showing on the log). Looking at their forum there seems to be a few people with this issue currently.

I’ve also seen that on the help page it states that the GAN will appear in the order notes of the order. However, I’ve noticed that in my test orders I am not seeing this. The only notes I have are:

• Order status changed from Pending payment to Completed.23/10/2023 at 8:23 pm Delete note
• Square Charge Approved for an amount of ￡1.00: MasterCard ending in XXXX (expires XX/XX) (Transaction ID Jq570ad1MfHhn0NdRV4r9cfkiABZY)23/10/2023 at 8:23 pm Delete note

If the GAN is not appearing here does that mean that it is not generating?

This is odd. Indeed, for orders related to the purchase or reloading of a gift card, merchants can see the gift card-related details such as the amount, GAN (Gift card account number), etc. under the Order notes section.

Can you please share screenshots of what you see at the Order notes screen, for such gift card orders? That will help us understand the issue. Here’s how to make a screenshot:

Additionally, to get an idea of how your site is configured, could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via ‘WooCommerce > Status’. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Also, consider utilizing a dedicated SMTP provider, from this list, in order to take better care of the email deliverability that appears.

Thanks. Unfortunately I can’t seem to get to the right page. When I log-in on the woocommerce site I am redirected to my wordpress.com profile and under support/help the only thing I can do is contact the forum. Am I doing something wrong?

I have managed to submit a request (using Incognito mode let me get onto the support page). Thanks for your help.

That response wasn’t helpful, but in case anyone else is reading this… you need to disconnect from Square and reconnect to enable gift card permissions if you didn’t have gift cards enabled when you initially connected.

glad you managed to solve it. Yes, that’s right. The documentation doesn’t mention that first you have to Enable Coupons on the WooCommerce settings page. If this is done it should then work.

I have the same problem. I enabled coupons previously, but the GC codes were not being emailed to folks. Also, I do not have any Gift Card Number in the order notes. But I had done these steps:

Setting Up a Gift Card Product

1. Create a new simple or variable product.
2. Mark the product as a gift card by enabling the Square gift card checkbox.

I also had already enabled “square gift card sent” email to customer.

Now I have disconnected and reconnected square. Hoping this resolves the issue in the future. However…. What happens now to gift card purchases already made? Can the code for the GC be sent/resent to the recipient?
