.sql import – how to have it show up on my web domain?

Hi all! I am trying a new way of importing a locally created WP website, by using .sql export and import. I know how to create a database, and how to import the files, but then how do I hook it up so that I can see it on my domain? I am missing a step…and think this is a way faster way to work this transfer.
