ugly bar?

Don’t see it. I just see an unstyled Bootstrap nav.

If you don’t define a menu and assign it to your theme’s primary menu in appearances->menu, WP will output a menu of all pages. I think that’s what’s happening here. So, create a menu and you should be OK.

Thank you, I did have a top menu when I started and got the ugly bar or unstyled bootstrap nav (as I now know to call it).

I have popped in a new top menu and still have the ugly bar in addition to the menu.

I have contacted them with no useful response. I have followed up twice.

That is one of the reasons I thought I would try a different theme, but the problem persisted. Given that two themes have the same issue can it be a theme based problem?

It could be if the issue is common to both themes. What happens if you try one of the twenty* themes, like 2017?

that has solved it. Thank you. I will keep that test in my armoury.
