The big difference is that on your production website, it is not working at all. Your images aren’t retina. On the dev website, it is working, the code is modified. But for some reason, it is modified wrongly.

It seems like the plugin modifies the code, then something else re-modify it again after that. Not sure why. Can you try to disable all the plugin except retina on your dev? Maybe even changing your theme to the default one? That would be the best test.

Hi Jordy, thanks for the quick reply. Changing the theme causes the site to display nothing at all, so no help. I have now reinstalled 3.3.6 on the live site with 3.4.0 on the dev site. The live site is performiing correctly.
Working through the plugins on the dev site, it is WP Mailto Links 1.6.0 that is conflicting with the code. This version is on both live and dev sites. Anything I can do to help resolve this?

Yes, you should contact the developer of WP Mailto Links, I am pretty sure this plugin is modifying HTML code is not supposed to modify. It’s definitely a problem they have and that might appear in many cases (and it is not linked to my plugin).
