Spoke too soon. Errors when trying to login. What to do?

    I’ve completed the first step of the installation process (from INSTALL.PHP) and I’ve been provided with an automated login/password. But when I click on WP-LOGIN (from the INSTALL.PHP pages), I get this gobbledegook above the login boxes.

    …I tried logging in anyway, as per normal, and then I got this, repeated about 10 times with different line numbers:

    Of course, I can’t try logging in/installing again, so I had to go into phpMyAdmin and delete the tables, then try installing all over again.

    What should I do?
