Split page widget into columns in footer?

Are there any plugins or hacks to split the page list widget into columns?

I’m using the twenty ten template and I’d like to list around 50 pages in the footer, but I don’t want it all to list in 1 column, I’d like to list them across 5-6 columns of equal width.

Are there any solutions that can automatilly do this? I know you can add a page list widget (or flexipage) with 10 items, then create 4 of them across 4 widget areas, but i’d like to find a better solution.
