• I want to set up a site for a celebrity making TWO trips. My idea is to have a splash page then 2 subdirectories or what is the alternative? Is this what multisite accomplishes.

    mysite.com
    mysite.com/spain
    mysite.com/russia

I want to keep this as simple as possible, same CSS but, obviously different content. If it’s too hard to link back to the splash page, I could have a button on each to send “main” page to link to the other.

One other question. One trip takes place months before the other. How difficult would it be at that point to drop the splash page and make the “main” page for the second trip index.php? Am I talking about a linking nightmare?

    Thanks.

  • I would just create a (splash) page and make that the front page..then create two categories, one for each trip…create a custom menu to add in your page(s) and these two categories…each trip has posts placed in the appropriate categories…

If you desire the cleaner URL’s listed (instead of /category/spain or /category/russia) you can add redirect rules…

…Then your structure works using default WP and a few easy redirects.

Thanks. That makes sense. I just want to clarfiy.

    No need for multisite?

I would need 2 different but similar menus…one for each trip. ie hotels, itinerary, hints, etc.

One other thing, client wants a blog on each. I don’t foresee having 2 blogs as a problem since they’ll show by category.

    Great.
