If you open your browser developer tools and check the console, you’ll see an error. It looks like you have a permissions issue with your WP install.

Thank you! We’ll check in to it.

Are the people trying to use it already WordPress users on your application? If yes do they have editor level or higher permissions?

Thank you both. When I go to the place that I think you are referencing Chrome, View, Developer, Developer Tools, Console; I see the comment: JQMIGRATE: Migrate is installed, version 1.4.1.

I may not be looking in the correct place. If we could have the information of which permissions are wrong, that would help a lot!

Ava, they are not WP users. They are my generally non-techie beta testers. ??

I don’t see the error any more. What exactly is the problem?

Thanks for checking! It runs fine on my computer, but no one else can successfully run a search on it. They get the spinning wheel of death. Arrrg.

OK, I’m seeing a permissions error with the file

    /wp_single/wp-admin/admin-ajax.php

I suggest checking that file on the server for the correct permissions.

    Thank you! Will do!

Thank you. My server person came back to me with this: “What should they be, right now it is read-write by the owner and group, read by all. Should it be executable?
    -rw-rw-r–. 1 apache biotech_staff 4370 Aug 2 22:23 admin-ajax.php”

Yes, well something is preventing that script from loading and it is essential to the operation of the search. This isn’t something the plugin does, that is handled in the core.

Make sure that you don’t have some kind of security blocking frontend access to admin scripts. That script at least must be accessible from the frontend.

Turned out that it was permissions on the folder that contained the script. It works! Thank you for pointing the way!
