• Hi All,

I have done a fair bit of research on how i can speed my website up however i just wanted to reach out to everyone and get some advice to see if i am doing the right things and see if i am missing anything out.

Steps i have taken to speed up website:
    – enabled gzip compression
    – optimised all images
    – minified css ( no plugin, did it manually. whats best method?)

I have ran my website through pagespeeds insights and i am getting 37/100 for speed. I am currently on shared hosting, i am looking to add bbpress to my website however thats gonna kill it once more traffic hits the website.

    Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

    Have a nice day

  • You have missed few more things:

    1) Remove unused plugins.
    2) use cache plugins
    3) avoid cheap web hosting.

    so simple it is.

What level of detail do you want to optimise?

    • Alphabetically organising your HTML attributes?
    • Refactoring your css and JavaScript?

For better web performance, avoid shared hosting. All it takes is someones unoptimized web site sucking up the resources on the shared server and your highly optimized site will be as slow (relatively) as all the others being hosted on that server. If performance is important (or even essential), then get either a virtual private server or a dedicated server.

I would suggest you using a CDN.

This would speed up your wordpress site for sure.
If you wanna get a little idea about one of the best free cdn then read the last point in this article, its cloudflare. – [Link moderated]

    Good luck
