I have a site with 1088 posts. I click the “start processing” button and the progress meter pops up, then after a short time (20 seconds?) it goes away and I get the “Good Job! You’ve sped up your site.” message. But then the next time I refresh the WP-Admin dashboard the “Start processing” button is there again.

I have tried disabling all plugins except Yoast SEO and had same result. Unfortunately, I don’t have ability to use wp-cli with this host.

  • Hi @maximledoux,

Thank you for reaching out to us, we apologize for running into issues with our plugin.

If the progress meter goes away quickly, we believe it ran into a conflict or issue. Can you please give us a little more information?

    A) Are you using Yoast SEO 14.3?
    B) Are you using WordPress 5.4.2?
    C) Are all other plugins and themes up to date? If not, please install any open update and check whether the issue persists.
    D) Does your site meet the plugin requirements found here?
    E) Do you have access to the server logs and if so, are you able to find any related error logs? If not, can you please check if you can find any Javascript errors in the browser console when you the process is running? We have information about this here.

    Thank you.

    Thanks for reply.

    A. Yoast 14.3
    B. Actually yesterday was not using WP 5.4.2. Upgraded today, but same result
    C. fairly confident it’s not a plugin conflict because I tried it with all plugins disabled except Yoast with same result.
    D. Yes:Running MySQL 10.1.44-MariaDB-cll-lve – MariaDB Server and PHP Version 7.3.6 with 256M PHP memory, according to phpMyAdmin
    E. I do have access to my php.error.log on the server and I think there’s nothing related to Yoast in that or in the wp-content/debug.log, unless indexing employs xmlrpc, which is being blocked. I checked browser console for Javascript error but don’t see any.

    Hi @maximledoux

We understand you try to use the indexables feature and it runs for a while, and then shows the completed message, but when you refresh, it asks you to perform it again. Is this correct?

When you try to re-run the indexables feature again, does it show less objects that need to be processed? Like instead of 1000, it just needs to process 900 more the next time around when you re-run it? It might not be ideal, but could you please try to re-run it a couple of times until it eventually completes and all objects are processed?
