• Great Plugin. It does everything I have been looking for in a search plugin.

My main concern is the speed of the search

I have it set so that the search results are only displayed in the dropdown box, there is no option to go to a results page.

If i run a dummy search on my site, the spinner a the edge of the searchbox can spin for 30+ seconds while gathering results before showing anything, where as if i visit a competitor who has a similar search facility, their results are almost instant.

It is as if the plugin starts every search fresh and does not cache results or even pre cache products depending on their categories/brands etc…

Is there any wayt to speed this plugin up to give my visitors a slightly better user experience?

Thank you in advance for any help

    Hi,

30+ seconds is not okay at all, there must be some sort of a conflict there. I have a few questions and suggestions as well:
    – How many posts/products etc.. are there in your database roughly?
    – Do you use any firewalls/security plugins?

If there is a great amount of items (thousands, tens of thousands), with long contents it is possible that the database process can’t handle the query. In that case, I suggest the following configuration:
    – Enable the search only on title fields, and nothing else: https://i.imgur.com/DMlSF0Y.png
    – Change the keyword logic to ‘AND’: https://i.imgur.com/6QjfQzq.png
    – Enable the custom ajax handler (this might conflict with a firewall, but worth a try): https://i.imgur.com/Kc693IE.png
    – Also, try turning on the exact matches only, it should affect the performance positively: https://i.imgur.com/1HmuTLk.png

If you have any firewall/security solution, make sure to check if there is anything blocked from the plugin directory.

    Best,
    Ernest M.
