Speed issues caused by Facebook's plugin

Hello,

In another thread I learned that the facebook plugin was really slowing down the time it took for me to add/publish/update posts.

I’m just wondering, is there a way to make it work faster? I really only want to use the like button and/or the recommendations bar.
